« Mise en Page » by Sarah Andelman
Le Bon Marché
Invited by Sarah Andelman as part of the Mise en Page exhibition, Aline Asmar d’Amman unveils her Béton Littéraire collection at Le Bon Marché from February 24 to April 21, 2024.
‘Béton Littéraire is a collection of functional sculptures made from stones, concrete and books, sealed together to form a poetic material.
Selected, beloved books are stacked like bricks, giving rise to a series of objects with an evocative presence. Slices of paper-thin stone run through the pieces, transforming them into tables, bookcases or bookends.
Each of the natural stones is chosen with an upcycling approach.
Invoking the love of literature and the promise of the book as a protective shield, “Béton Littéraire” celebrates culture as an essential framework.
Béton Littéraire” is made using an artisanal and artistic process. The pieces are handcrafted by the architect at Laboratorio Morseletto in Italy. The selection of books varies according to Aline Asmar d’Amman’s curatorial work and can be customized to specific themes.
