Pavillon du Liban
Biennale de Venise, 2022
The exhibition Le monde à l’image de l’Homme, presented at the Arsenale in Venice by architect Aline Asmar d’Amman.
Aline Asmar d’Amman designed an ovoid structure in dialogue with the site’s historic architecture, drawing inspiration from both the memory of Lebanon and brutalist architecture. Her scenography forms a bridge between East and West, symbolically referencing emblematic sites of Lebanese heritage : Baalbek, Beirut, and Tripoli, whose ruins reflect both ancient and modern history. The Lebanese Pavilion thus becomes a space of memory, dialogue, and restraint, resonating with the country’s current situation and paying tribute to its creative spirit.
